Cheap Golf GPS Device

Cheap Golf GPS Device

You are in the market for a cheap Golf GPS, well the good news is, you do not have to break the bank for a cheap golf GPS.

We need to remove the myths surrounding that the cheaper golf GPS are not as accurate as the more expensive devices on the market.

We must make it clear that all of the manufacturers that create these unit from the top of the range watches or handhelds use the same satellites in these little less expensive GPS devices.

In this article, we will provide recommendations for two Golf GPS Devices that will give you the correct distances to the green and some other basic information you require on a golf course.

These devices are pre-programmed with thousands of golf courses and present the distances in a very simple format.

We will be recommending two golf GPS devices and these are the Garmin Approach G10 and the Bushnell Neo Ghost Phantom.

It was a close call but we have to go with the Garmin Approach G10.

Garmin Approach G10

The Garmin Approach G10 is a very small and sleek GPS device that is the entry-level unit from the Garmin range of Golf GPS .

Garmin devices are excellent and have been producing GPS Watches, Laser Range Finders and now handhelds for many years.

The G10 has the same size screen as you would find on a watch so will really appeal to the minimalist.

If you are a golfer that wants all the bells and whistles of all the other functionality then this little device maybe not for you.

If you need further advice on other GPS units then check out our article below.

These little units are designed with a 1.3 inch display that is super clear which can to be clipped to your belt, hat, golf bag or even pocket.

We love these little units at eat sleep golf repeat, they are great in sunlight and give very clear but basic distances to the front, middle and back of the green, they even give distances to hazard such as bunkers, doglegs and even lay ups.

The Garmin Approach G10 is pre-programmed with over 42,000 courses, so playing on your home course or travelling abroad and this super light but powerful device will give you exact distances all day long.

The G10 even has Greenview that when selected displays the shape of the green, you can also load in the pin position if your course has them available.

Another little function I quite like on the Garmin Approach G10 is the shot tracking feature which can help you keep your score, which can be then uploaded to the Garmin Connect app so you can keep and track your statistics.

The unit has a lithium Ion Battery and is water resistant so you do not have to worry when the weather takes a turn for the worst. If like me you sometimes play 36 holes in a day then you need you GPS to work, well it comes with 15 hours of battery so you can easily use the G10 for three rounds before needing to charge the unit.

The Garmin Approach G10 is great for the golfer that wants to keep his game simple, my dad has one of these and he loves it.

Bushnell Phantom

Bushnell is another leading company that manufacturer excellent GPS devices, I currently use their laser Range Finder which performs great. Bushnell has been creating Sports Optics for over 60+ years.

The Bushnell Neo Ghost Phantom is a compact device which has the same screen size as a normal watch, it is already pre-programmed with over 36,000 golf courses and you can update the unit.

This device is not touchscreen and you navigate with side buttons, the unit gives the golfer the same basic information to the front, middle and back of the green and four other hazards per hole. This device also comes with four vibrant colour options.

One other point to note on the Bushnell Neo Ghost Phantom comes with Bite technology, which is on the rear of the device which when put close to metal attaches through powerful magnets which can be used to attach to a buggy. When you are not using this functionality, Bushnell have provided a handy clip which is included to attach to your hat or belt or golf bag.

You also have the option to connect the device through Bluetooth which will give the golfer access to many more features and wireless course updates.

Conclusion

If you decide on either of these two units then well done, if you have never used a GPS device when playing golf then it will change how you play the game forever.

It will help you manage the golf course better by not having to guess how far the green is or the dreaded bunkers, and hopefully help you understand how far you hit your different golf clubs.

These little units are perfect, and you do not have to spend a lot of money to gain the benefit that these Cheap Golf GPS Devices will bring to your game.
