In the past, I have had numerous fitting experiences with different golf manufacturers, and each has its advantages.

The advantages of having a personalised fitting,  you can try the various different club heads each manufacturer has on offer, but also how they can tailor what shafts you should be using to best suit your swing speed and setup.

I decided to get fit for Mizuno irons and with the Mizuno experience they start with the Mizuno Swing DNA club.  Which after hitting three golf balls can give a very accurate prediction of what shaft you should be using.

It does take a lot of the guess work out of the process, and can reduce the amount of time you need for testing the various shaft options available.

What Specification Did I Choose?

Which Iron

So, I decided on the Mizuno MP20 MMC which stands for Multi Material Concept which is the second generation of this model.

These have replaced my Mizuno JPX900.

From the testing that I did I just found I prefered the flight of the golf ball, and how the ball felt off the face of this particular iron.

It was a very close call between this iron and the new JPX921, but the slightly thinner topline just tipped it for me.

Which Shaft

So after using the Nippon Modus 3 120 shaft for the best part of four years I was surprised to find out that the Mizuno fitter, wanted to put me into the Dynamic Gold X100 stiff.

Which I had used once before many years ago with not the best results.

This is why it is so important to get custom fit.

You really can see how a shaft can, and will affect the golf ball and fitted correctly can help you tighten your golf ball spread or dispersion.

So, after trying every shaft he could possiblely use to try and find a better performer, the results kept coming back to the Dynamic Gold X100.

It was clearly the best performed in terms of numbers, but feel wise it felt solid to me.

Which Grip

Following the release of the Golf Pride Align Plus 4, which was designed to help grip pressure, it simulates having an addtional four layers of tape on the shaft while having the raised ridge at the rear of the grip, which help me with my hand alignment.

As I am based in the UK and playing most of my golf here I need a grip that works in all weather conditions, and I have been pleased with this one.

In the Box

On top of the 4-PW set of irons which I new I was getting, it was quite a nice little touch to be getting a few little freebies.

Mizuno RB Tour X golf balls
Mizuno Club Oil
Mizuno Branded Club Cloth
Mizuno Groove Cleaner
Mizuno Cloth Bag

Conclusion

As you can probably tell, I am very excited to be recieving my new Custom Fit Mizuno irons.

Great experience if you have never been fitted by the very experienced professionals, for a new set of golf clubs, then you must give it a go.

It is never a cheap purchase to be buying a new set of golf clubs, so you do need to be making sure what you are choosing is right for you and your golf game.

Good Luck.
